Fortuny fabrics are among the most finely crafted fabrics in the world. The richly printed fabrics were first created by Spaniard Mariano Fortuny. Born in 1871, Fortuny had an eye for Old World beauty and textiles, and moved to Venice at the turn of the century to build his reknowned reputation for creating
a new standard in luxury fabric.
Fortuny fabrics are known for their sumptuous feel and richly designed patterns, which are influenced by cultures around the world; from Reniassance, Byzantine, Art Nouveau, Celtic, Greek, Persian and Morrocan motifs, Fortuny fabrics embody a worldly style and elegance.
Mariano Fortuny was a master in perfecting the way light bounced off his fine fabrics, and still today the Fortuny name stands for the pinnacle in textile achievement. All Fortuny fabrics are still manufactured in the same factory that Mariano Fortuny founded, with the same special dying and textile techniques he perfected over half a century ago. It is this lifelong dedication to creating quality fabric that makes Fortuny fabrics just as special and revered as they were when Mariano first created them.
